Iowa West Foundation Announces New Director of Communications

February 23, 2015

The Iowa West Foundation is pleased to announce the latest addition to its staff, with the hiring of Nicole Lindquist of Council Bluffs as the Director of Communications.

Lindquist brings a decade of journalism, public relations and communications experience to her new position at the Foundation. She began her career working as the southwest Iowa reporter for the Daily Nonpareil newspaper where her “man on the street” interviews were featured in a series called “Tell it to Nicole.”  Lindquist honed her PR skills at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute, building their social media presences from the ground up and launching a corporate blog titled “A Day in the Life at UNMC.” She most recently served as a Brand and Communications manager for Emspace Group, a communications strategy studio located in Council Bluffs and Omaha.

“We are excited to have Nicole on board,” said Pete Tulipana, President and CEO of the Iowa West Foundation. “Transparency is a priority at the Foundation and Nicole will help us communicate vital information about grants and initiatives with our partners, the media and community members.”

Lindquist earned her undergraduate degree in broadcast journalism from Iowa State University, with a minor in coaching. She is currently pursuing her master’s in Communications from the University of Nebraska at Omaha while serving as an active member of Impact CB and the Omaha Press Club.

“It’s an honor to work for such a vibrant Foundation who partners with other organizations to create so much good in our community,” Lindquist said. “I look forward to sharing all the great work happening at the Foundation through our website, social media channels and more.”

The Iowa West Foundation is one of the largest private foundations in the Midwest. It has distributed more than $320 million in grants to non-profits and governmental agencies through southwest Iowa and eastern Nebraska since the inception of its grant program in 1996.

Funding for the grants comes from investment earnings and the Iowa West Racing Association, which receives contractual fees from casino operators, Ameristar and Harrah’s. IWRA is the license sponsor for Ameristar and Harrah’s and the license holder for Horseshoe-Bluffs Run.
