Serve as Program Officer to the Healthy Families portfolio, Multi-Year Funding, and the Small Grant Program.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Helping with the vision of the Iowa West Foundation. Site visits with organizations are important in our funding process. It is always educational to learn about various non-profits, the work they do and those they serve.
What is one of the toughest challenges of your work?
Many of the nonprofits I work with do have real challenges. I prefer to adapt to their way of thinking and view any challenges as an opportunity. Many times knowledge and collaboration give way to an opportunity.
Where is your favorite place in Council Bluffs or Pottawattamie County and why?
Lake Manawa State Park. My husband and I enjoy the wildlife and the opportunity to photograph the many seasonal visitors that pass through.
Who in the community inspires you?
The amazing individuals that work tirelessly in nonprofit organizations in our community.
What would you like people reading this to know about the Foundation?
That the staff works tirelessly to ensure the needs of the community are heard and respected.
A few fun facts about you:
- I currently hold the longest-tenured employee of the foundation.
- My husband and I have been in 49 states. Forty-eight states have been on our Goldwing touring motorcycle.
- My family (my husband, brother, and sister-in-law) go kite flying in Long Beach, Washington.

I believe as a lifelong resident of Council Bluffs that the changes occurring at the riverfront will create a great entranceway to our city. Inviting all who visit to see another reason why we are proud to call this city home.
