A BETTER WAY OF DOING THINGS

Iowa West Foundation is evolving philosophically as well as operationally. Our updated Web site allows us to be a more self-service organization. For example, our online application process is fast, easy and convenient. Our grant distribution policy is evolving. We have new formats as well as new and better ways of doing things.

If we need to tweak forms or procedures further, the developments will be posted here, on the Web site, well before any application deadlines. Please be certain that you are using the most current application materials by checking here before you begin preparation of an inquiry or a proposal.

FUNDING GUIDELINES

The first step in applying to Iowa West Foundation is to acquaint yourself with our funding guidelines, areas of interest, and ineligible uses of funds. Click here to download our guidelines as an Adobe Acrobat® PDF file.

APPLY ONLINE

Applicants may apply online.

The online application is faster, easier and more convenient, and internet access is generally available in public libraries. If you wish to obtain printed application materials, please contact grantinfo@iowawest.com or (712) 309-3003.

REVIEW PROCESS

The Foundation has established a community-based grant review process in an effort to insure objective review and input regarding grant proposals. Four grant advisory committees have been established to correspond with the Foundation’s four focus areas. Community volunteers serve on these advisory committees. Grant proposals are referred to these committees by the Foundation staff.

Recommendations from Foundation staff and the grant advisory committees are forwarded to the Foundation Board of Directors’ Grant Review Committee for their consideration in making funding recommendations to the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Applicants are discouraged from lobbying our community volunteers (our grant advisory committees and board of directors) regarding their proposals.

Applicants are encouraged to consult with Foundation staff. For technical assistance, contact Grants Manager Deb Debbaut at (712) 309-3003.

Program staff is available to meet early on with applicants regarding proposals, prior to their submission.
